Dr. Jean Burns

burnsabout Dr. Burns attended and graduated from the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine in Gainesville, Florida in 1994. Her interests included reproduction, feline medicine and cardiology. While at the University, Dr. Burns worked for three years in the Reproductive Department under Dr. Rolf Larsen and Dr. Victor Shille. She was also awarded the Excellence in Feline Medicine and Surgery Award, Hill’s Nutrition Award and the Iams Pawprint Award for her work while a student in veterinary school. In her senior year, Dr. Burns completed an Externship at the Animal Medical Center in New York where her focus centered on Feline and Canine Cardiology.

After graduation, Dr. Burns completed her internship at Coral Springs Animal Hospital specializing in medicine and surgery. Upon completion of her internship, Dr. Burns worked at the Emergency Hospitals in South Florida as well as practicing in the Boynton Beach area for nine years. At this point, she built Floresta Animal Hospital in 2004, where she is currently the Medical Director. The hospital is our second home and we welcome you to come in for a visit. Dr. Burns and her staff are passionate about the appropriate care and devotion given to each and every patient. Floresta Animal Hospital is also certified by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA). This is a voluntary regulating body the ensures the most stringent quality and high standards of care and professionalism.

Dr. Burns lives in Parkland with her fiancé, Chris. They share an active life taking care of their many French bulldogs and his plant nursery.
